Route: Around Warter
Area: East Yorkshire
Date of walk: 17th July 2013
Walkers: Andrew and Gilly
Distance: 7.7 miles
Ascent: 600 feet
We parked near Farberry Garth Farm and walked along a lovely path through Great Dug Dale in the direction of Warter. It was another hot sunny day with clear blue skies. Along the path we saw thousands of butterflies which rose in clouds as we approached them. They’d been attracted by the thistles and other wild flowers along the way
After crossing the road which leads into the village of Warter, we followed an attractive path which eventually took us into Lavender Dale, followed by Brig Dale. This was a beautiful section of the walk
When we reached Blanch Farm, we turned back towards the start point, and walked through alongside well cultivated rolling fields with big views in all directions. It had been a great walk through classic Wolds countryside
