Route: Troutsdale
Area: North York Moors
Date of walk: 19th January 2014
Walkers: Andrew Gilly and Fiona
Distance: 4.5 miles
Ascent: 500 feet
We made the short journey from Derwent View Hackness through Wrench Green and along a forest track, and parked at the viewpoint at Highwood Brow. Sadly there was no view at all as there was low mist
Fiona’s mood was not improved when she discovered she’d left an essential piece of walking kit behind – her lipstick – but she gamely agreed to carry on without it. Plucky lass!
From the viewpoint we descended to valley level along a well made track known as Moor Road. We then joined the quiet road running along Troutsdale and followed this for about 1 mile
At an abandoned chapel we left the road and walked back into the forest, following easy paths back to the car
The weather was awful, but at least the rain held off
