Route: Rosedale
Area: North York Moors
Date of walk: 3rd September 2013
Walkers: Andrew and Gilly
Distance: 6.3 miles
Ascent: 600 feet
We started our walk at Rosedale Abbey, and headed north west along the valley. The views ahead were tremendous, and enhanced by blue skies and lovely cloud formations – a bonus, as it had been misty and overcast on the way from Derwent View
We then crossed to the other side of the valley, almost to the top of the ridge. We could see plenty of evidence of the old ironstone industry, which thrived in the valley less than a century ago
The path then descended back to valley level via woodland and pastures, beside Northdale Beck
We arrived back in Rosedale Abbey and reflected how lucky we’d been to enjoy three great walks in as many days
