Renishaw Hall and Gardens is on the edge of the Peak District and wasn’t on our agenda for today until we decided that our planned high level walk would be pointless thanks to mist on the tops
Renishaw has been owned by the same family for around 400 years and generations of Sitwells have contributed to the development of the gardens over the years, to the extent that they gained the HHA/Christie’s Garden of the Year Award 2015
We first walked round the stunning formal gardens in front of the hall, and then wandered into the woodland area and down to the lakes. A path runs round the larger of the lakes, which we followed for a while and then retraced our steps. With a little more time on our hands we’d have followed the full circuit but that can wait for another day as we’ll surely return to this beautiful place
