Route: Maryport
Area: West Cumbria
Date of walk: 7th March 2015
Walkers: Andrew Gilly Phil and Denise
Distance: 1 mile
Weather: Very windy!
It was blowing a gale all morning and a fell walk would have been dangerous if not impossible, and even a low level walk didn’t appeal in these conditions
We decided to drive to Maryport as there was a good chance of dramatic seas. This proved to be a good decision. When we reached the promenade the tide was up and the sea was raging, with huge waves crashing against the wall
We walked along the prom for a while but progress was very hard in the teeth of the gale force wind, so we headed over to the harbour and wandered around looking at the fishing boats, some of which have seen better days
