Route: Littlebeck and Falling Foss
Area: North York Moors
Date of walk: 9th August 2013
Walkers: Andrew and Gilly
Distance: 5.4 miles
Ascent: 700 feet
We parked in the small hamlet of Littlebeck and, after passing through a gate, walked along a delightful steep and wooded ravine, which is a nature reserve under the protection of the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust
There were sharp drops down the ravine at one or two places, which added interest
After about 1.5 miles we reached the impressive waterfall known as Falling Foss. There’s a small cafe close by so we dropped in for a cup of tea
Suitably refreshed, we carried on alongside May Beck until we reached a picnic area where we headed back to Littlebeck, through woodland and open fields, with occasional long distance views of the North Sea
It had been a really enjoyable ramble
