Date of walk: 31st December 2013
Walkers: Andrew Gilly David Rob and Jen
Distance: 4.2 miles
Ascent: 700 feet
There was a howling gale and torrential rain all morning, but later on it cleared up, so we decided to walk to the Kirkstile Inn for a quick New Years Eve drink
We left Millbeck and joined the path which runs down Lorton Vale by the foot of Whiteside. We then walked to the head of Crummock Water via Lanthwaite Wood, but the footbridge over the River Cocker was inaccessible due to flooding, so we finished our journey to the Kirkstile via the road
We’d worked up a thirst by now, and the Loweswater Gold went down a treat – as usual
Roll call - Gilly Rob Jen and David (wake up David, we’re going for a walk!)
The fields opposite our house are saturated - this is looking over to Low Fell and Fellbarrow
Walking along the lane, Mellbreak and the Loweswater Fells are ahead
We walk up the outgang towards Dodd
