Route: Hull Old Town – Phoebe’s first walk!
Area: East Yorkshire
Date of walk: 4th September 2014
Walkers: Andrew Gilly and Phoebe
Distance: 4 miles
We were babysitting our granddaughter Phoebe (almost 1) and decided to take her for a walk – the fact that she can’t walk yet was no bar thanks to a recently purchased ‘baby rucksack’
We’d had a great walk around Hull almost one year ago and thought it would be a good idea to pay another visit to the city
Phoebe was duly installed into the carrier and off we went. She weighed a lot more than the usual contents of my rucksack and I was glad we weren’t climbing Scafell Pike – that will have to wait until she can get there under her own steam
I’ve worked in Hull for most of my life and so tend to take it for granted. It was good to see the city through the eyes of a child and be reminded what a great place it is – as I hope the photos will show

We decide to visit the Streetlife Museum, not having been here since bringing our children many years ago

Walking along the River Hull with the tidal barrier in the distance - 19,000 homes were saved from a tidal surge in 2013 thanks to the barrier
