Route: A short walk from Hackness
Area: North York Moors
Date of walk: 20th December 2013
Walkers: Andrew Gilly and Fiona
Distance: 2.5 miles
Ascent: 100 feet
We went to our holiday cottage at Derwent View, Hackness in order to put up the Christmas decorations and there was just enough time for us to go for a short walk afterwards
We walked out of the village past the village hall and crossed over to the other bank of the River Derwent via a wooden footbridge
A public footpath along the bank of the Derwent took us back past the cottage, and we followed this as far as Wood House
We’d normally have gone on to Langdale End and completed the round by returning to the cottage along Broxa Rigg. Alas, we didn’t have time on this occasion, so we retraced our steps back to the cottage
It was only a short outing, but we always enjoy any time spent in this lovely part of the world
