Route: Hackness
Area: North York Moors
Date of walk: 5th May 2013
Walkers: Andrew and Gilly
Distance: 8.4 miles
Ascent: 700 feet
We started our walk from Derwent View Hackness and walked along the path at the back of the cottage, emerging further into the village. We then turned along the beautiful lane to Lowdales and, after reaching the small settlement, climbed up into Haggland Woods
At the end of the climb we went across open farmland to the lovely little village of Silpho and then across more agricultural land, until we finally descended a valley to reach the quiet road back into the village
We decided to take a short detour along the path above Hackness Hall, a good decision as the views were superb
It was a wonderful walk, made even more special by the abundance of wild flowers that lined the way
