Route: Grasmoor, Hopegill Head and Whiteside
Area: North Western Lake District
Date of walk: 24th January 2013
Walkers: Andrew
Distance: 9.3 miles
Ascent: 3,600 feet
I set off from Millbeck about 10am. The conditions looked very promising and it proved to be a fantastic winter walk. I went along Lorton Vale and turned up Lad Hows to get to the top of Grasmoor (2,791 feet). The paths were very slippery and microspikes were essential.
After climbing Grasmoor, I went on to Hopegill Head (2,525 feet) and along the wonderful ridge to Whiteside (2,317 feet), descending via Dodd and getting back to Millbeck about 4pm
I’ve not included a route map as this was a walk from home, but there is a link to Hopegill Head below
