Route: Sóller to Fornalutx and back
Area: North West Mallorca
Date of walk: 6th September 2015
Walkers: Andrew Gilly and James
Distance: 6.9 miles
Weather: sunny and very warm
After our short walk to Port de Sóller earlier in the day, there remained time for an afternoon walk so we decided to walk from our base in Sóller to nearby Fornalutx, one of the prettiest villages on the island
We walked out of Sóller along quiet roads and then joined an ancient path which took us through the small settlement of Binibassi and from there on to our destination – Fornalutx
After wandering around the attractive streets for a while we set off on the return leg. The initial part of the walk back was rather unsatisfactory, being along the main road from Sóller to Fornalutx, but this only lasted for 10 minutes or so. When we arrived at Biniaraix we were able to turn off the main road and walk through the pretty town, following quiet lanes all the way back into Sóller
Note: the map shows the route we took, which started at our rented villa. Anyone following this route will need to adapt it, depending on the start point. The nearby main square is recommended – there are numerous walks out of Sóller starting here
