Route: Flamborough Head
Area: East Yorkshire
Date of walk: 30th August 2014
Walkers: Andrew and Gilly
Distance: 9.5 miles
Weather: Sunny, warm and windy
We parked in the car park at Danes Dyke and walked towards Dykes End. Within a few minutes we were on the east coast enjoying views over the North Sea. There then followed several miles of wonderful cliff top walking – with quite a few ups and downs – as we followed a section of the long distance Headland Way to Flamborough Head
The towering cliffs and rocky coves below were a spectacular sight as we made our way along the tops. Walking doesn’t get much better than this
All too soon we reached Thornwick Bay and it was time to head inland, and we passed through a caravan park and Flamborough village before reaching open countryside and making our way back to the start
Luckily the weather was on our side today and the sunny conditions showed the cliffs in their best light. It was a wonderful walk
