Route: Embalse de Respomuso
Area: Spanish Pyrenees
Date of walk: 25th June 2016
Walkers: Andrew and Gilly
Distance: 9.7 miles
Ascent: 2,500 feet
Weather: Sunny and warm
We parked just beyond the Lanuza Reservoir and joined the GR11 long distance path which headed steadily up the valley for about 5 miles through staggeringly beautiful landscape. The red and white waymarks along the way made route finding a simple affair. When we finally reached the Embalse (reservoir) de Respomuso it was a great climax to our walking holiday. The setting of the reservoir below snow covered peaks was spectacular
After a picnic in this idyllic spot we retraced our steps which was no hardship as the views were equally good both ways
As this was the final walk of our self-guided walking holiday I’d like to take the opportunity say a huge ‘thank you’ to Hike Pyrenees and especially to Phil who looked after us so well. The service was friendly and efficient and amongst other things we appreciated: the detailed route maps and descriptions; the suggestions for the next day’s walks which were always spot on; the leaflet with information about local flora and fauna; intimate and extensive local knowledge which helped us see sights we’d otherwise have missed; packed lunches every day – all this and more made it a wonderful holiday, and if the photos below tempt anyone to follow in our footsteps then I can recommend Hike Pyrenees without reservation
Thanks again Phil, and now on with today’s walk…
