Route: Derwent Water
Area: North Western Lake District
Date of walk: 18th October 2013
Walkers: Andrew Gilly and David
Distance: 4.3 miles
Ascent: 250 feet
We decided on a low level walk today as the weather forecast was poor, and chose a walk we’ve done many times before but never tire of
We parked at Nichol End Marine and climbed aboard the Keswick Launch, disembarking at the Lodore Falls Hotel on the south end of Derwent Water
The path back along the shore took us through Manesty Park and Brandelhow Park which are well stocked with magnificent specimen trees. The autumn colours were showing well, and there were masses of mushrooms to be seen in the woodland
We arrived back at Nichol End just as it started to rain, and just in time to enjoy bacon and egg butties for lunch
