Route: Circuit of Loweswater
Area: North Western Lake District
Date of walk: 8th December 2013
Walkers: Andrew
Distance: 4.4 miles
Ascent: 400 feet
I parked at Maggie’s Bridge and walked along the wide track leading to Loweswater
After walking through Holme Wood, I took a detour uphill to see Holme Force, then retraced my steps back down to the lake
It was drizzling by now and it was tempting to return to Maggie’s Bridge and abandon the walk. I decided I to soldier on but by the time I got to the far end of Loweswater it was pouring
There was no point turning back by this stage, so I followed the quiet lane along the other side of the lake to complete the circuit
It was impossible to take decent photos in the driving rain, especially on the return leg, and such photos as I did manage to take reflect the dull and overcast nature of the day
