Route: Beverley Westwood
Area: East Yorkshire
Date of walk: 2nd April 2013
Walkers: Andrew
Distance: 6.7 miles
Ascent: 200 feet
I started the walk from Beverley Minster and went along Highgate to Wednesday Market, and then along Toll Gavel to Saturday Market. It’s a pleasure strolling along the streets of this attractive market town, which are lined with well preserved old buildings
After passing through North Bar I turned left onto Beverley Westwood. The Westwood is a beautiful and extensive pasture, now owned by the council, with its own golf course and racecourse. In summer months cattle and sheep roam around. There’s no fixed route around the Westwood, you can just wander about as your fancy takes you, which is exactly what I did – the walk can be as long or as short as you choose to make it
After a really enjoyable meander, I returned through the town to the Minster
