Route: Burnbank Fell, Blake Fell and Gavel Fell
Area: Western Lake District
Date of walk: 26th August 2013
Walkers: Andrew
Distance: 7.9 miles
Ascent: 1,900 feet
Having done a short walk up Dodd early in the morning, there was time for another walk in the afternoon
As it was Bank Holiday Monday, I decided to stay close to base and visit the remote and unfrequented Loweswater Fells – a good decision as it turned out, as there were very few people around
Starting from Fangs Brow, I climbed up to Burnbank Fell (1,580 feet), followed by downs and ups to Blake Fell (1,878 feet) and lastly Gavel Fell (1,720 feet). It was hot and sunny but hazy in most directions, so the long distance views were poor
I returned to Fangs Brow via the lovely terrace path above Loweswater
