Burton Constable Hall is an Elizabethan gem 10 miles east of Hull city centre, and set in over 300 acres of Grade II listed parkland landscaped by Capability Brown. There are plenty of walking opportunities in the grounds and they are perfect for anyone who doesn’t like to climb hills – the surrounding landscape is as flat as a pancake
We parked by the old Stable Block, built in 1770, and entered the grounds. We decided to make a beeline for the lake and walked across the fields to Capability Brown’s Bridge and then followed a path along the shore of South Lake, returning to the Hall via the Woodland Walk. The surrounding landscape, though flat, was beautiful and full of interest
We would have liked to follow the Parkland Walk too, and to have visited the house itself, but we’d run out of time so will save those treats for another day

We leave the grounds via the Stable block - a wonderful short walk, though we'd barely scraped the surface of this special place
