Route: South Cave Circular
Area: East Yorkshire
Date of walk: 31st May 2013
Walkers: Andrew and Gilly
Distance: 12.5 miles
Ascent: 600 feet
We parked in the attractive village of South Cave and joined the public footpath which leads across Cave Castle golf course. The sun was shining and it was T shirt weather the whole way
We passed through Everthorpe and North Cave, and then walked along Mires Beck to Drewton. By the time we reached the main road it was time for a pit stop, so we took a short detour to Drewtons and enjoyed a very calorific break
The walk through the Drewton Estate was beautiful. The estate is well known to bird watchers, and we saw red kites and a buzzard, but failed to spot any goshawks or green woodpeckers, which can also be seen
The route then took us high up onto the Wolds and we then joined the Yorkshire Wolds Way which took us through chalk fields and woodland plantations back into South Cave
It had been a fantastic walk and we’d enjoyed every step of it
