Farndale is internationally renowed for its incredible display of wild daffodils (Lenten Lilies). Millions of them flower along the banks of the River Dove for about 7 miles. They are usually at their best in late March, but, as a result of the cold start to the year, they had just come into flower when we visited
We parked at Lowna Bridge and and after a couple of minutes we were treated to a spectacular display of flowers – they seemed to be growing everywhere – and as we continued along the path the display got better and better
We walked along the riverbank to Low Mill. We’d intended to return at this point but decided to extend the walk further along Farndale to Church Houses, where we refuelled at the Daffy Caffy
We then climbed up to the west side of Farndale, and walked across Harland Moor. The path took us back down to the River Dove and, via the other bank, back to Lowna Bridge. What a memorable walk this was!
