Date of walk: 12th May 2015

Distance: 4.1 miles
Weather: Sunny intervals, windy
The good folk of Beverley are lucky to have the Westwood on their doorsteps. This large area of common land commands lovely views of St Mary’s Church and Beverley Minster and is open for all to enjoy. There is an infinite number of walking possibilities through the rolling pastures
Today I decided to walk around the perimeter. I parked by Beverley Racecourse, where by chance a race meeting was taking place, and walked over to nearby Burton Bushes. My cousin Denise had recently mentioned that the bluebells were in full bloom and so they were – a beautiful sight – and scent – as I wandered through the woods
I continued the circuit of the Westwood, passing by the golf course as I did so, and after an hour or so I arrived back at the racecourse, just in time to see one of the races – a great finish to a great walk
