Route: Helm Crag

I parked at St Oswald’s Church in Grasmere, putting the required fee in the honesty box so as to avoid being struck by a bolt of lightning at the top of the fell
I left the village via Easedale Road which provides a convenient way to the foot of the fell. Navigation up the fellside wasn’t a problem as there’s a well made rocky path up the fell side and I was soon at the top
There are many interesting rock formations at the top of Helm Crag, the best known of these being The Howitzer and The Lion and The Lamb. It’s a good thing I had the rocks to look at, for today there were no views at all. Thick mist had descended bringing with it a fine drizzle which followed me all the way back down to Grasmere
