Blue skies and sunshine greeted us as we drove into the attractive and unspoilt village of Appleton-le-Moors. We parked near the pub and walked out of the village along a wide track

It was an easy walk across fields to Hutton-le-Hole, where we visited the Ryedale Folk Museum, a fascinating open air museum. We spent a really enjoyable and interesting hour there and wish we’d had more time at our disposal, but there was more walking to be done

We made our way to Lastingham along the edge of the moors and visited the lovely church in the centre of the village. The way back to the start was through fields and woodland

The countryside was beautiful throughout the whole walk, and completely unspoilt. There was a huge variety of scenery including open moorland, cultivated fields, meadows and woods, and we enjoyed this walk every step of the way
